Hi, I'm Ruth Stephenson!

Since 1990, I’ve been immersed in the world of art education, passionately encouraging creativity and inspiring young minds. Over the years, my role as an art teacher has been incredibly fulfilling, and alongside my professional life, I’ve enjoyed over 30 years of marriage and watching my three adult children thrive in their own careers and lives.

Currently, I divide my time between working part-time for the Department for Education and co-owning BeArtiful Creatives with a friend. Our business is a vibrant space where art is celebrated and creativity flourishes. We offer workshops, classes, and events that not only allow artists of all levels to explore their creativity but also contribute to the community by enhancing cultural experiences and personal growth. I’m especially excited about incorporating elements of Transpersonal Art Therapy into our offerings, as I believe art can be a powerful tool for healing and self-discovery.

My commitment to the arts extends beyond my business. I’ve been actively involved in my community, serving on the Riddoch Art Gallery Board and the Country Arts South Australia Board, and participating in the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre reference group. One highlight was being the artistic director of the Mayoral Gala, where I had the pleasure of showcasing local artistic talent.

In addition to my work in the arts, I’ve connected with the local sports community through coaching hockey teams and being actively involved as a soccer, dance, and netball mum. Despite a busy schedule, I remain dedicated to continuous learning, taking art classes and workshops to deepen my knowledge and appreciation.

Now, as I pursue an Advanced Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy at CCM, I’m excited to further explore how art can aid in personal growth and healing. My journey in art and community reflects my belief that a thriving art scene is integral to a thriving life and community.
