Art, in its myriad forms, has always been a profound way of expressing the human experience. As a visual artist and educator based in Mount Gambier, my journey is deeply intertwined with the vibrant tapestry of this community. My life here has been a canvas, enriched by the colours of family and local culture, which have profoundly shaped my artistic vision. 

These physical and cultural landscapes provide a backdrop against which I explore and express my creativity. The natural beauty of the area intertwines with the dynamic spirit of the community, creating a ground for artistic exploration.

 My children are a central influence in my artistic life. Their boundless imagination and innate creativity remind me daily of the pure joy found in the act of creation. They embody the essence of what it means to be an artist—seeing the world not just for what it is, but for what it could be. In them, I see reflections of my own artistic journey, and they are, undoubtedly, my greatest masterpieces.

 Through teaching, I strive to impart this perspective to my students. I aim to nurture their ability to see the world through a creative lens, encouraging them to make their own marks on the world, one brushstroke at a time. The process of guiding students in their artistic endeavours is as rewarding as my own creative practice. It fuels my passion for the arts and reinforces my commitment to fostering creativity in the next generation. 

Balancing the roles of artist and educator allows me to weave together my personal and professional lives in a harmonious dance. Each day presents a new opportunity to mould, teach, learn, and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. This balance enriches my artistic practice and deepens my connection to the community and my family.
