It’s Friday So let’s Draw! (D3)

May 24 @ 11:30 am - June 28 @ 1:00 pm

Drawing Classes A series of 6 weekly classes / lessons makes a course with the main focus on accurate and observational drawing. Each daytime course has a maximum of 6 participants to allow one-to-one guidance. Observation skills, visual literacy, and drawing techniques are practiced in a non-judgmental, supportive, fun environment.

All drawing courses are suitable for beginners right through to advanced artists as the first lesson will determine which level of learning is right for you. This means you can take all 5 courses and continue your learning throughout the year, or you can enroll in the six-week course that fits your schedule and then enroll in another one later in the year to pick up where you left off.

If you are a beginner, or want a refresher, value, proportion, scale, size, line weight, overlapping and structure are where your learning journey will start with graphite pencil. Your learning will be enhanced through discussions on different types of pencils and their applications, as well as the many different drawing surfaces available

If you see your skill level as fitting the intermediate profile you may like to learn about and work with coloured pencils, charcoal, chalk or oil pastels, or fine line pen on a suitable subject. Again, your learning will be enhanced through discussions on the different types of media and their applications, as well as how drawing techniques differ between them. Alternatively, as an intermediate drawing learner you may wish to delve into the world of perspective drawing. A rich and rewarding subject in its own right, do not hesitate to ask for tuition in this fundamental drawing skill. Your world will never look the same with an understanding of the principles of linear perspective!

As an advanced drawing learner, achieving high levels of realism with your chosen media working on a large scale or a complex subject will be your goal. We offer you supportive conversations and suggestions as we become your ‘critical friend’ through your drawing experience from conception to completion with guidance to develop your own self-expression and style. And yes, you can start a larger work in one course and roll it through to the next course as sometimes 6 weeks is just not enough time.
